Pochettino defends rotation after Tottenham cup defeat

Mauricio Pochettino defended his squad rotation policy after making nine changes before Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup by Leicester City.

Andros Townsend’s first-half penalty had given Spurs a 19th minute lead, but they were left to rue missed chances in the second-half as Leicester scored twice in the final eight minutes to seal their passage through to the fifth round.

The Spurs manager had made wholesale changes from the starting eleven which defeated Sheffield United 1-0 in the Capital One Cup, with only goalkeeper Michel Vorm and Townsend keeping their place.

“This is our way from the beginning of the season and is not something that justifies the end result,” said the former Southampton manager.
