John Terry and Steven Gerrard net in Chelsea-Liverpool draw

Liverpool’s Champions League hopes are all but over despite earning a hard-fought point at Chelsea.

Steven Gerrard scored his first goal against the club that tried to sign him in almost 10 years to cancel out John Terry’s early header.

Gerrard had been subject to the usual derogatory chants and signs mocking his infamous slip last season, but was actually applauded off the pitch by the home fans when subbed off by Brendan Rodgers.

The celebratory atmosphere seemed to overawe Liverpool’s players, who allowed Chelsea to impose themselves on proceedings.
