Hiddink is the favourite to replace Mourinho… but is he the right choice for Chelsea?

With Jose Mourinho’s nightmare third season since re-joining Chelsea finally put to an end by Roman Abramovich, Guus Hiddink has emerged as the favourite to replace him.

What’s his record like?

A rather modest Dutch footballer during his playing career, Guus Hiddink’s rise to fame began with his managerial career. His CV reads among the most impressive in the game, with spells at clubs including PSV Eindhoven and Real Madrid, as well as national roles with the Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, Russia and Turkey.

In a management career spanning nearly 29 years now, he has presided over 792 games with a more than respectable 58% win percentage. Six Dutch titles were won in two spells with PSV, and an Intercontinental Cup in a short spell at Real.
